Granny usually appears in expressions such as "when granny was a young girl" or "When grandma danced the jig", indicating a world that has gone by and has no relevancy to today's way of living.

In a culture that admires youth and anti-aging, the common denominator of all expressions that involves granny is ridicule and disrespect.

"Granny Tales" exhibition is trying to showcase a visual world that has gone by and deals with objects, materials and textures that seem to have lost their appeal. In this exhibition, the personal visual memories of each designer receive a current interpretation by using new materials or technologies or by changing the visual order or context.

Elinor Portnoy is creating a stool inspired by traditional embroidery and crochet patterns inspires both Galit Shvo and Yaarit Mechany to create lamps using unexpected materials. Yaarit is also making a bench and a coffee table inspired by floral upholstery. Naama Steinbock and Idan Freidman to "Reddish" are creating a clean lines table that its top can be mistaken for a map while Chen Segal Balut coffee table looks like a crochet map floating on wooden legs. Ben Broyde creates wall clocks that take from the past but have an up to date strong colors. Eilon Armon is inspired by an old armchair to create a new one and Yael Holander created a rocking chair that its upholstery is made of raw ?wool that will get to its final shape from an on going felting process that started at production and continuous by daily use of the object?. Esther Yaloz upholstered granny chairs with a fabric that its pattern can be seen only when getting up from the chair and Idan Aviad is creating wooden stools that imitate upholstery methods. Ezri Tarazi creates a lammed assembled from granny's collectible items and Ami Drach & Dov Ganchrow gives a sexy interpretation to granny's dressing table.
